Services We Offer

Do you want to reach a wider audience?

Do you want greater compliance or even a reaction to your communications?

Perhaps Plain Language is needed to enhance your messaging?

We can help.

Literacy Partners of Manitoba offers:

  1. Assessments of brochures, web pages and letters.  Is your text readable by your target audience? If your clients aren’t getting your message, maybe it’s how you are wording your message.
  2. Suggestions to improve readability to suit particular audiences.  Not everyone reads at a grade 12 level, what changes can widen the appeal of your text?
  3. Re-writes, structural and copy editing. We’ll edit your documents to remove those embarrassing errors that make you look bad. And, we’ll write in a style appropriate for your audience and purpose.
  4. Training sessions in Plain Language writing.  We will teach you how to prepare well laid out documents worded so that people really understand in practical, hands-on, congenial workshops. (Click here for our fees.)
    1. For Writers:
      - Level 1 Introduction to Plain Language – 2 days
      - Level 2 Writing for the Web in Plain Language – 1 day
      - Level 3 Advanced Plain Language – 1 day

        1. following completion of the above courses, and
        2. submission of examples of Plain Language documents created by the registrant
  5. Informational workshops about Plain Language principles, techniques and literacy levels of target audiences. (40% of Manitobans read with less than grade nine skills - which communities and neighbourhoods need special care to get messages across?) – (1 – 2 1/2 hours)
