Why Plain Language?
- Only a tiny fraction of Manitobans who struggle with reading attend literacy programs. Organizations need to write so they are understood by everyone.
- Plain language is good style, not “dumbing down.” It is making the message clear and understandable for readers. Plain language writing reaches more people.
- There is no correct way to use plain language. Plain language is comprised of simple, clear sentences and is at a reading level no higher than grade 10.
- Look for principles of plain language under Guide. To see what we offer, click on Services. Look at examples and check out other sites under Resources.
